What the working does
The Second Glance does not improve output, alter a supervisor’s judgement, or attach the petitioner’s name to work they did not do. It operates on attention alone.
For the term of the working, attention passing across the petitioner’s contribution rests approximately four-tenths of a second longer than it otherwise would. The effect is measured in our own records and is small at any single instance. Aggregated across a review cycle, our outcome data supports a meaningful difference.
Petitioners whose difficulty is the quality of the work rather than its visibility are advised at consultation that this is not the appropriate working, and are not charged for the consultation.
Brought by the petitioner
A document written by the petitioner that was well received by no one. One object from the petitioner’s desk that has been in place longer than eighteen months. The full name of a colleague promoted ahead of the petitioner, written in the petitioner’s own hand and folded once.
Limits & refusals
Cannot be directed at a named individual. Does not survive a reorganisation of the petitioner’s department. Not offered to petitioners in organisations of fewer than nine people.
Term & afterwards
First effects are most commonly reported in the fifth week. The follow-up sitting takes place at eight weeks and is included in the fee.
